Fred “Mr. Nemo” Baroncelli, of North Easton, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital surrounded by his wife and children following complications from a heart attack. Fred was born, raised and educated in Brockton, son of the late Nemo and Josephine (Ferretto) Baroncelli. He was the Class Treasurer when he graduated from Brockton High School in 1949; he later graduated with a Business Degree from Burdette Business College in Boston. Fred was well known in the Brockton business community as proprietor of Nemo’s Market. Originally a fruit and grocery store run by his father Nazzareno (“Nemo”), it is still serving the needs of the neighborhood in the equally capable hands of his son Paul Baroncelli. Until his recent illness, Fred’s favorite activity was going to the store six days a week to help attend to the many daily tasks at the store and to enjoy and remember the friendship of all who walked through the doors over the years. Fred would then leave the store to play cards with his friends at Thorny Lea Golf Club. Fred was the beloved husband of Sheila (Monaghan) Baroncelli for 51 years and father to Linda Baroncelli of Newton, Karen Mangiacotti of Medfield and Paul Baroncelli and his wife Sara (Dombrosky) of Brockton. Four wonderful grandchildren filled his and Sheila’s hearts; he was “Banka” to Brock and Emma Mangiacotti, and “Grampa” to Anthony and Olivia Baroncelli. He was also the brother of the late Albert and John Baroncelli. Fred leaves two sisters-in-law Louise Baroncelli, John’s widow, of Mansfield and Jean Monaghan, Sheila’s sister, of Brockton. Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 3-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 10am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
