Alan K. Brown age 60 of Easton passed away unexpectedly January 25th at home. Born in Staten Island, NY, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School. He went on to graduate from Northeastern University and received his Masters in Counseling from Cambridge College. He formerly worked for the Department of Social Services, The Brockton Trial and Probate Courts and has most recently worked as a Counselor at a rehabilitation center in Brockton. He was an avid sports fan who loved target shooting, hockey and especially Bobby Orr. He was also an animal lover who loved his cat. Beloved son of Yoko Oi and her husband Henry Oi, Sr. of Canton. Brother of Henry Oi, Jr. of Canton, Allen Oi of Acton, Loretta Oi-Capone of Westfield, Marjorie Dixon of CT and the late John Oi. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Monday 4-8 pm. Funeral service at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 11. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

Rosemary Collette (Piche) Marden of Mashpee, formerly of Stoughton and North Easton, passed away on Tuesday January 28, 2014. Rose was 54 years old and the cherished mother of the true loves of her life, Robert Roy Marden and Rachel Anne Marden both of North Easton. She was the loving sister of Suzanne ( Piche ) MacCormack and her husband Robert of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Leo R. Piche and his wife Sandra of Stoughton,MA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and her paternal aunts, Sister Bernadette Piche, S. U. S. C. of Taunton,MA and Ms. Beatrice Piche also of Taunton.Other survivors include Mr.& Mrs. Robert and Frances Marden of Stoughton.

Born August 21, 1959 in Stoughton,Massachusetts she was a daughter to the late Roland A. Piche and Elizabeth W. ( Lanigan ) Piche. She attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a 1977 graduate of Stoughton High School. Rosemary also attended Massasoit Community College in Brockton and graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Mrs. Marden was employed as an Executive Assistant in the Admissions Department at Stonehill College in Easton for over 15 years. Her hobbies included gardening and taking trips to the beach. Rose loved the sunshine. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of Knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 2, 2014 from 2 P.M. – 6 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend. Her funeral will be held on Monday February 3, 2014 at 8:45 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton, followed by a funeral mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul at 10 A.M. in the Chapel of Mary on the campus of Stonehill College, 320 Washington St. Easton. George B. Makepeace, age 82, of Brockton, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at West Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Natalie (Rodgers) Makepeace. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, George was the son of the late Edward F. and Marjorie (Pousland) Makepeace. George had been an employee of the Brockton Enterprise for over 45 years. He began his career delivering papers and worked his way up to Typesetter. He enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing, driving into Boston to the movie theater and watching movies at home. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandson Christopher. He was also a former member of the Pearl Street Methodist Church and Taunton Elks. George is survived by his daughter Brenda Gary of Mashpee; grandson Christopher Gary and his wife Bethany of Marstons Mills; a sister Muriel Vilk and her husband Bill of Brockton; his longtime friend for over 60 years, Arthur Carr of Brockton and many nieces and nephews. George is also survived by his former wife Shirley Makepeace of Easton and longtime companion Lena Condon of Brockton. He was the brother of the late Edward, Harold and John Makepeace. Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 10am-12pm followed by a Funeral Service at noon. Burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Annette E. (Sullivan) Signori passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 27, 2013. Originally from Boston, she formerly resided in Stoughton and Canton prior to her move to No. Easton 12 years ago. A loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Signori was a former employee of New Eng. Tel & Tel in Hyde Park and worked for many years as a School Bus Driver in the Town of Canton. She enjoyed playing scrabble with her friends, painting and quilting. The beloved wife of Eugene Signori of No. Easton, she is survived by her devoted children; Janine Morley of So. Easton, Steven of Stoughton, Thomas of No. Easton, and Daniel Signori of So. Easton, 8 cherished grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late James & Richard Signori and sister of the late Mary Corrigan, Noel, George & Marguerite Sullivan. Wendell C. White, Sr., 84

Wendell C. White, Sr., age 84 of Norton, formerly of Easton passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was the husband of June C. (McCarthy) White to whom he was wed on May 31, 1971.
Born in Easton, MA on October 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Hiram and Flora (Holmes) White. He grew up and was educated in Easton. During the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army.
Mr. White was a retired machinist and had been employed at STD in Stoughton. He had formerly worked at the former Crofoot Gear Co. in Easton and was the owner of the former White Oil Co. in Norton.
Curt had made his home in Norton for over 45 years. When younger, he along with his children had shared a love for Go-Kart racing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother Vernon White and his wife Jeanne of Easton. His stepson Larry Thiffault of South Dennis. He was the father of the late Wendell C. White, Jr. and Valerie Ann White. He was the brother of the late Myrtle Buron, Shirley Horn and Virginia Loftin, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. Those wishing may make a donation in his memory to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, 175 Fruit St., Mansfield, MA 02048.

Philip Barske age 96, of Sharon, formerly of North Easton and Fairfield, CT., died peacefully at home on August 23, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris. Survived by his loving daughter, Jane Kelly and her husband Doug of Sharon, his two adored grandsons, Ryan Kelly of North Easton and Tyler Kelly of Sharon, and many nieces and nephews.

Dr. Barske was a noted wildlife biologist, who made conservation his life-long vocation and was recognized as a leading practitioner of wet lands creation, restoration, and enhancement. After studying forestry and wildlife management at the University of CT he earned a master’s degree in conservation and wildlife at the University of Michigan. He worked for the Wildlife Management Institute for 33 years, traveling all over the northeast from Virginia to the Canadian Provinces promoting wise use of natural resources.

After receiving a doctorate in applied ecology from Antioch College he continued in the field as a private consultant. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choosing.

Christine “Chris” Francis died peacefully at her home in Lansdale, PA on Friday, November 8. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Susan (Racca) Iacono.

Christine was the beloved wife of George “Jack” H. Francis and the devoted mother of Paul C. Seeberg and his wife Millie of Easton, Susan L. Newton and her husband Bruce of Bellingham. She was the loving grandmother of Stephanie and Amanda Newton, and loving great grandmother of Rilynn Newton. She was the cherished sister of Linda Sneider and her husband Tom of Medford, and the late Michael Iacono.

A funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, November 14 at 8am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 9am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 – 8pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Virginia E. Rogers of North Easton passed away late Sunday evening, December 1, 2013 just 2 hours shy of her 94th birthday. Virginia was the wife of the late Alfred G. Rogers and the daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia (Carreiro) DeCouto. Raised and educated in No. Easton, she was a 1937 graduate of Oliver Ames High School. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Virginia was employed by Stonehill College as a payroll bookkeeper for many years. Upon her retirement she worked at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital as a volunteer. Her hobbies included knitting, rug braiding, cross-word puzzles, and she was an avid Red-Sox fan.
Her travels which brought her a great deal of enjoyment were throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Virginia was the sister of her late brothers Francis E. DeCouto, Herbert P. DeCouto, Arthur W. DeCouto, and James E. DeCouto. Survivors include her sister, Alice F. Howard of North Easton, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral will be held on Friday from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte123), Brockton, MA at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main Street, No. Easton at 10 am. Interment will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Canton Street, No. Easton, MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 pm.

Maria Emilia Loura a 41 year resident of Stoughton passed away after a brief illness on Thursday February 13, 2014 at the West Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. She was 89 years old. Emilia is survived by her sister, Norberta Ambrosio of Stoughton, her niece M. Isabel Geary and her husband Jay of S. Easton, her nephews Louie Ambrosio of Stoughton, Mario Ambrosio of Virginia Beach, Virginia, her great nieces Danielle and Nicole Geary of S. Easton and her great-nephew Jonathan Geary also of S. Easton. Emilia was also a sister to the late Joao Lourenco da Silva.

Born January 11, 1925 in Pico, Azores, Portugal she was a daughter of the late Joao Lourenco da Silva and Isabel Emilia doCarmo. She was employed as a seamstress for many years in Portugal and later in life was employed in the electronics field by Datel Industries. Maria was a communicant and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 16, 2014 from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. TAUNTON – Howardina R. “Dina” (Smith) Stanley, wife of Jesse V. Stanley, Sr. of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on March 21, 2014. She was 63. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Roberta M. (Cook) Smith, Jr. Mrs. Stanley was raised and educated in Easton and Fall River, and was later employed as a home health aide for several years. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Jesse V. Stanley, Jr. of Taunton; a daughter, Elsie E. Narciso of Taunton; a brother, Robert E. Smith, III of Fall River; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. ONSET (formerly of Easton and Taunton) – Isabelle M. (Barretto) White, wife of the late Richard H. White, died on May 16, 2014, after a brief illness. She was 83. Born in Easton, she was the eldest daughter of the late Severiano D. and Caroline M. (Fernandes) Barretto. After graduating from Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Isabelle worked at Harco Orchards in Easton for several years and then went to work at the National Bank of Plymouth County in Brockton, retiring from there in 1989, which at the time of her retirement was called Shawmut Bank. A communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham, Isabelle looked forward to her mini vacations at the Connecticut casinos. Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy C. White of Taunton, C. Paula Barretto of Stoughton and JoAnn M. Savary of E. Wareham; two brothers, James A. Barretto and his wife Miriam E. of Colorado Springs, CO and Lawrence S. Barretto of Tamarac, FL; an aunt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. She was also the sister of the late Louis F. Barretto. Funeral services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Thursday, May 22nd at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton. Jon E. Harlor, age 68, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Easton and Mansfield passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor “Hedy” (Haran) Harlor to whom he was wed for the past 37 years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 5, 1945, he was a dear son of Eleanor (Smith) Harlor of Mansfield and the late William E. Harlor.
Jon grew up in Mansfield and was a 1963 graduate of Mansfield High School. He furthered his education and was a graduate of Curry College in Milton.
A retired Social Worker, Mr. Harlor had made his home in South Yarmouth for the past 4 years and was a former 30 year resident of Easton.
Jon will always be remembered as a true “renaissance man.” He loved history and was always quite knowledgeable on current affairs. He enjoyed engaging in conversations regarding politics and was also an avid sports fan. He loved opera and always maintained a special place in his heart for animals.
In addition to his wife and mother he his survived by his devoted sister and brothers, E. Joan Holliday of Mansfield, William A. Harlor and his wife Mary Ann of Mansfield and Lyle S. Harlor and his wife Leslie of Mansfield. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours , to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday afternoon at the conclusion of visiting hours at 1:30 P.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Born in Easton, MA on October 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Hiram and Flora (Holmes) White. He grew up and was educated in Easton. During the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army.
Mr. White was a retired machinist and had been employed at STD in Stoughton. He had formerly worked at the former Crofoot Gear Co. in Easton and was the owner of the former White Oil Co. in Norton.
Curt had made his home in Norton for over 45 years. When younger, he along with his children had shared a love for Go-Kart racing.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother Vernon White and his wife Jeanne of Easton. His stepson Larry Thiffault of South Dennis. He was the father of the late Wendell C. White, Jr. and Valerie Ann White. He was the brother of the late Myrtle Buron, Shirley Horn and Virginia Loftin, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private. Visiting hours are omitted. Those wishing may make a donation in his memory to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, 175 Fruit St., Mansfield, MA 02048.

David Charles Smallwood, 46, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on November 3, 2014. He was born in Hyannis, MA on February 4, 1967 the son of Dr. Charles T. and Mary (McLaren) Smallwood of South Easton. Raised in South Easton, David graduated from the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Connecticut. He had also attended Lyndon State College in Vermont. David had a passion and talent for woodworking and loved all Boston sports teams. In addition to his parents David is survived by his beloved son Cullen, of Willard, North Carolina, his sister Julia Wheatley of North Attleboro, Massachusetts and a niece and a nephew. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday Nov. 17 at 11 am in Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase St. South Easton. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours are omitted. Mrs. Gina M. (Moura) Mendonca, age 41, passed away at her Taunton home early Sunday morning, November 16. She was the beloved wife of Jose A. Mendonca, age 46, of Taunton. She was born in Stoughton, the daughter of Joao L.C. and Georgina R. (Cunha) Moura. She was educated in Easton, having graduated from Oliver Ames High School, and had been a Taunton resident for many years. Gina was formerly employed as an inspector for Tenebraex Corp. in Boston. She also taught C.C.D. classes at St. Mary’s Parish in Taunton. She enjoyed scrapbooking, babysitting and spending time with her daughters. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in Taunton. She will be missed dearly by both her parents and her husband, as well as by her daughters, Samantha Mendonca, age 22, and Meghan Mendonca, age 15, along with her brother, Dwayne Moura and his wife, Sandy, and her nieces, Liana Moura, age 6 and Aliya Moura, age 2, who will always remember their loving Tia, as Gina goes to join her son, Matthew, who predeceased her 17 years ago. Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, November 21 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Gina’s family requests those attending wear a hint of purple, her favorite color.

John A. “Jack” Ennis age 80 of South Easton, formerly of Brockton, died Sunday January 4, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mary C. (Kiney) Ennis and the late Jean (Beede) Ennis. Jack was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late John P. and Stella (Turner) Ennis. A 1952 graduate of Brockton High School, Jack had lived most of his life in Brockton before moving to South Easton 6 years ago. Jack was a Korean War Veteran who served in the Air Force. He retired from Merriman’s Inc. as a machinist where he worked for many years. Previously he worked for General Dynamics at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy until it closed. Jack enjoyed model airplane construction and flying with his W. Bridgewater friends. He also liked to read, fish, hunt and take long walks. In recent years he began to travel. Jack will be remembered as a gentle and lovable man who enjoyed family get-togethers. Jack was the father of Kathleen Cutter of Newton, Linda Blackmon of Medfield, Lt. Col. Robert Ennis of Pensacola, FL and Mary Ennis of Brockton. He was step-father to Debby Marcroft, Lydon, Paul and Merri Gauthier, grandfather of 6, and brother of Raymond Ennis of Raynham. Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 5-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9 am for a Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, South Easton at 10 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

Gwendolyn E. (Roe) McElroy age 69 of South Easton died Monday January 12, 2015 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. She was the wife for 40 years of the late William L. McElroy. Gwendolyn was born and raised in Mt. Clemens, Michigan a daughter of the late Fed and Violet (Stevens) Roe. She graduated as president of Brockton Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1990 and had worked in area nursing homes. Gwendolyn had served US Army 190-1986 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant and earned the Army Commendation Medal. She is survived by her three children Bill McElroy of Raynham, Kelley Pereira of South Easton and Jennifer Dellacioppa of New Hampshire. She was the grandmother of Taylor, Julianna, Ashlie and Jayden and sister of Jackie Logan and the late Thomas Roe. A graveside service will be held in Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham Friday January 16, 2015 at 1pm.
